Contemporary still life - Flowers and flora Portraits

I like to notice what is around me in nature, the vast diversity and importance wild flowers, insects and wildlife.

I have an interest in wild flowers and herbal medicine, folklore and history and weave my still life illustrations into my work. 

I have been using my illustrations as a way of observing and learning what grows , appears in the landscape  around me from  January - December

 I collect healing herbs, medicinal plants,  used for a wide range of benefits. Some are traditionally used to reduce stress, anxiety, swelling, nausea, and pain. Others may help remedy ailments like toothaches, the flu, and the common cold.

Herbs typically contain volatile oils, which can be quite potent and produce stains, colour I  can add to my pigments. Some common ones I use are ashwagandha,  camomile, echinacea, garlic, turmeric, and ginger are just a few of many examples of common healing herbs.
