Annemarie Blake
Annemarie Blake
Born in Dublin, currently living in Somerset. Annemarie is a figurative and landscape contemporary printmaker and painter. Her work process often combines traditional printmaking techniques, etching, engraving, lithography with drawing and painting creating a sense of depth, layering and texture. She integrates detailed drawings with an expressive, abstracted approach.
Annemarie seeks to keep a real sense of spontaneity in her pieces, in an effort to capture the energy and atmosphere of a memory or a moment in time, inviting the viewer to be drawn in, slow down , make their own connection with the images and contemplate the wonders of the ordinary.
Annemarie makes some of her own colour pigments from natural dyes using plant sources - roots, berries, bark, leaves, wood, herbs and spices. Minerals, iron oxide and other biological sources such as fungi and lichens.Chalks and limestone with some of the whites. Blues include yinmn blue which is chemically stable, and is non-toxic, retaining its vibrancy in oil and water.
She works on paper, wood panels, linen and natural fabrics.

Annemarie is currently working on a series of drawings, prints (etching and lithography) alongside paintings based on sketches done at Glastonbury Festival.
Annemarie began documenting , sketching and painting at Glastonbury Festival on the invite of a wonderful man called Robert Richards. Robert worked behind the scenes contributing to making the festival happen. In 2013 Robert bought one of Annemarie's paintings - he then invited and encouraged her to do works about the festival. This has been a fun and developing gig. Thanks Robert.
