OWL Gallery have the pleasure of hosting Jane Sheppard's wonderful ceramics.
Opening evening Thursday 11th July from 6.00pm - all welcome - 33 Catherine Hill Frome
Jane Sheppard is a leading UK ceramicist. Her large-scale vessels and forms explore our human relationship with making using the ancient practices of coilbuilding and smokefiring. Her work draws on ancient forms and symbolism, building on journeys through Africa where she researched the spiritual use of clay in traditional communities.
Jane began her ceramics journey in the 1990s and led the ceramics department at Bath College for 15 years. She is an ordained interfaith minister and Frome resident. New work explores the prehistoric legacy of the Somerset and Wiltshire landscape.
Jane will be giving a talk at OWL Gallery - Thursday 18th July 6.00pm Limited places available £5 - booking through OWL Gallery or online at owlgalleryfrome.co.uk
Jane’s artistic practice links strongly with her educationalist background and philosophical outlook, guided by her journey with clay. Her interest lies particularly in our human connection with clay and its history.
